[Review] Holika Holika Petit BB in Clearing

Hi my lovely readers! I'm back! I'm sorry for haven't posted so long, I hope you missed me! Hehe... I hope everybody's summer is going great!

I decided to come back with a BB cream review, this time is the Petit BB in Clearing from Holika Holika. A BB cream aimed for oily skin even though the finish isn't matte.

This BB cream contains Tea Tree oil extracts and oil powder which claims to help with blemishes, blackheads, oily skin and it moisturizes at the same time. (Info taken from prettyandcute online shop)

I've been having problems with super oily skin lately but I believe the problem was the face towels I was using. I washed them with fabric softener as well as with washing powder. I haven't been using towels that have been soaked in softener the past couple of days and my skin feels a lot better and not as oily.

Petit BB cream in Clearing with SPF30 PA++ was something I wanted to try for a long time. It is a lot better at oil control than the Shimmering version (which I also have and I'm going to review soon) but still not the best oil control I could get from a BB cream.. Maybe it's because it is warm (even in Ireland...) and my face sweats sometimes or even before became too warm, my face produced oil after a couple of hours. It's also a lot better when I set it with face powder, especially with the Dear Girls oil control pact which it extends it to 4 hours.

The finish isn't matte, more like semi-dewy! It has a strong smell that fades away after application, I'm not sure I can describe the scent.

The swatch looks darker but it turns to a lighter shade after application but it's still a tiny bit darker than my pale face. The consistency is thick and creamy, easy to apply.

One thing I like about this BB cream is the coverage. Medium coverage that can turn into full with a good primer. I'm not wearing any primer nor powder on the photo above. Also, didn't apply BB cream on my eyes area.

Ingredients List from prettyandcute online shop: Water,Cyclopentasiloxane,Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Titanium Dioxide,Methicone,Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Dimethicone,Butyelene Glycol,Disteardimonium hectorite, Tribehenin, PEG-10 Dimethicone,Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Iron Oxides(CI 77492) & Mica & Methicone,Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer,Sodium Chloride, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Triethyl Citrate,Glyceryl Behenate,Polyglyceryl-6 Octastearate,Silica,Iron Oxides(CI 77491) & Mica & Methicone,Iron Oxides(CI 77499) & Mica & Methicone,Phonoxyethanol,Methylparaben,Propylparaben,Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Extract, Fragrance,Xanthan Gum.

I would never recommend this to any of you, simply because the oil control isn't the best and the finish is dewy, something people with oily skin never ask for.

MY RATING is 3/5

Because the oil control isn't great, I didn't notice any improvements but then again I haven't been using it everyday but the coverage is good! I don't really mind the dewy finish though. It's probably going to work well on normal to oily skin but not super oily skin. The main reason I'm giving this 3/5 and not 2/5 is the medium coverage!

Have you even tried this BB cream? Does it control oil well for you?

  1. Never tried the HH BB creams, I find that they're so light for me! ;n; But meh, if oil control isn't great... I don't think I'll try this even in the winter (when i'm paler), hehe. ;n; Thank you very much for the review!

  4. Yayy! I am perplexed as to why they made it a semi-dewy finish despite it being for oily skin, but I guess maybe there's a small market for it. Great to see a review~ Your hair looks cute in the pic! (:

It's a pity that this BB cream didn't work for you... I guess it's not that easy to find a good BB cream when you have an oily skin D:

  11. I also want to try this bb cream but I don't know if the shade is right for me ( my skin is not so pale). Can you tell me what shade is the bb cream also what undertone is it?

    ReplyDelete

    1. the undertone is orange but adapts to your skintone after application on the face. Which shade are you in a different BB cream or foundation? I'm pretty sure it will go well on skin a shade darker than mine. I always have to get the lightest shade :) If your skintone is two shades darker than mine, this bb cream might be slightly lighter than your neck.

  15. Does it cover blemish, redness and open pores?

    1. medium coverage, it doesn't cover open pores perfectly, you might need pore primer if you have big problem with them ^^

  16. It works to me the exact opposite of your review, it has a truly matte finish on me (I mean, every skin its a whole world) its really beyoooond matte, its like I already put powder on my face so im really happy with this bb cream, its my fav one, and I live in a very humid and hot place (Sinaloa, México) so this and the fact that I have a super oily T-zone makes it perfect.
